4 Tips To Declutter This Easter

4 Tips to declutter this Easter.

I’ve been thinking about the clutter on my counter. It really bugs me, but I really have no clue what to do with it. I’ve tossed everything that can be tossed. I have a filing cabinet, but it’s full too. I’ve tossed most everything that can be tossed as well.  Now What?

This decluttering concept makes me think of my relationship with Jesus. Now that I’m a housewife, not working outside the home, I have more time to focus on Him, my home and my mom.

For some reason, I’ve been putting Him to the back burner so to speak. Not completely mind you, just some. I still do my devotions every morning with coffee, but when it comes time to pray, I open Facebook and decide I’ll pray later. I love to pray during my workout, cuz it makes the walk/run go faster. But lately I haven’t been working out everyday like I had planned.

My mind gets cluttered with the things I need to do before it’s time to go to moms. Once I head to moms the day is not my own any longer. I need to get moving, but I have to pray first.  Since I’m putting off praying, I’m pushing the rest of the day out further.  Ugh!! This is not working.  I’ve written about this before.  This clearly is an issue for me.

With Easter coming, I really want to experience the Joy of the Lord, the Joy of my salvation again.  I can’t do that with all this “clutter” in my head.  Just like anything else, I need to just do what I need to do.  I want my prayer life to be a “want” not a “should”.  It’s not like I don’t pray at all, because I do.

I am a popcorn prayer and for some reason I feel like that isnt good enough. I feel like I’m wrong if I don’t pray systematically.  You know, like starting my morning with prayers of praise, then repentance, thankfulness and lastly my needs/wants.  Etc..    I feel like if I don’t pray in that order, God won’t hear me.

I go back an forth with this issue of systematic prayer because the prayer Jesus said to pray, the Lords prayer is like that.  I’ve read over and over that this is how we should pray.  I don’t think it’s a bad thing, I just don’t know that God won’t hear me if I don’t pray this way.  It bothers me.

You see, I see Jesus as my friend.  The guy sitting next to me on the bed as I talk to Him.  I don’t see Him as this big bad ruler that will strike me dead if I pray “wrong”.   I also do not feel my way of praying is disrespectful to God, but I know others my disagree with me.

Matthew 6:9-13

“This, then, is how you should pray:

“‘Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
10 your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
11 Give us today our daily bread.
12 And forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
13 And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one.

I have trouble with prayers of praise, because I am not an eloquent speaker, you may have noticed. lol  I just say what’s on my mind.  I thought of writing a prayer of praise, but I don’t know what to say. I’ve even gone as far as using Pinterest to find prayers of praise.  Everything is so long winded and I like short and to the point.  I May have found some I can cut and piece together. We shall see how that works.

See, I have some clutter in my mind as well as my counter that I’m not dealing with.  If you’re like me and want to get rid of some clutter this Easter, I have a few ideas.

First

Make a list.  Go through the clutter and write it down.  Lists always help me declutter my mind.  What ever the clutter you’re thinking about, write it down.  Lists are great because the get the clutter from your mind on paper where you can see them better. Then, when you can cross something’s off, it feels so good!  lol

I’ve made lists for each day.  Chores I do daily, chores I do weekly, spring cleaning type chores and hobbies that I want to spend time doing.

Second

Prioritize.  Decide what is most important on that list and write a new list in that order.  Lists really help me prioritize the day, which I love.

Third

Pray over the list.  Asking the Lord to help you work though the list.  To get the things done you need to and leaving the rest for later.

Forth

Get to work.  Whatever it is.  Mine is writing a prayer of praise, praying that prayer each morning so I have peace about this praying issue on my mind.  The one I’ve been ignoring it and opening FB instead.  I’m not going to get anywhere doing that.

EASTER

The basis of my faith is the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.   John 3:16 and Matthew 28 is where we find the Love of God in it’s most raw and pure form.  Please read these Words, absorb them into your heart and see Jesus this Sunday and each day forward.

John 3:16

16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

Matthew 28

Jesus Has Risen

28 After the Sabbath, at dawn on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to look at the tomb.

There was a violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and, going to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it. His appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow. The guards were so afraid of him that they shook and became like dead men.

The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples: ‘He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him.’ Now I have told you.”

So the women hurried away from the tomb, afraid yet filled with joy, and ran to tell his disciples. Suddenly Jesus met them. “Greetings,” he said. They came to him, clasped his feet and worshiped him. 10 Then Jesus said to them, “Do not be afraid. Go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee; there they will see me.”

Reflection

I hope this has helped you, if you’re struggling with “clutter” in your mind. Making room to experience the Joy of Jesus and the resurrection!

If you’re not a list writer, I encourage you do try it out.  I never used to be a list writer, but since I started a few years ago, I found it to be so helpful.  What lists do you tend to write?

Happy Easter. Happy Spring.
